Game and Parks to Host Free Archery Event Dec. 7 at Platte River State Park

LINCOLN – A free day of archery shooting is scheduled for Dec. 7 at Platte River State Park’s Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex. Prizes and free food will be available.

This event, part of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Archery on Fire promotion, is open to all ages and experience levels. Equipment will be provided for this event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A park entry permit is required of each vehicle entering the park.

KFRX-FM 106.3 will broadcast from the site, and there will be free hot dogs, buffalo stew and hot chocolate. Among the several prizes donated by Cabela’s will be a compound bow, caps and a $20 gift card.

Game and Parks’ on Nov. 18 launched its Archery on Fire promotion to grow archery as an outdoor activity. For more information about the promotion or the archery event, visit ArcheryOnFire.com. Visitors there will find links to information and videos about getting started in archery.
