Platte River State Park Plans Free Family Holiday Activities

LINCOLN – Make a gingerbread house, take a holiday hayrack ride or search for the yule log at Platte River State Park (SP) this weekend.
Platte River SP will offer a variety of traditional holiday activities on Saturday, Dec. 21, beginning at 10 a.m. From then until 4 p.m., families are invited to make gingerbread houses, birdhouses, Christmas cards and holiday ornaments. Santa will make an appearance from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
At 4 p.m., teams of three or four will be provided with clues to search for the yule log. After the yule log quest, families can make s’mores or have dinner around a bonfire. Park staff will also offer lighted hayrack rides.
All activities are free, though there will be cost for the food and s’mores. A park entry permit is required. For more information, call the park office at 402-234-2217.
