As spring turkey season ebbs closer, the Commission will be offering turkey hunting workshops throughout the state. Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone with a little more experience looking to learn something new, our turkey hunting workshops are where you need to be!
In the northeast region, Bill Lewis will be your instructor on Saturday, March 15 in the Sandbar Room at Ponca State Park from 10am-12pm. Bill is an avid turkey hunter and has been enjoying archery for over a decade. He is currently Pro Staff for Mossy Oak Enterprises, Primos Hunting Calls and Mathews Solocam. Bill will cover beginner basics, wild turkey biology, high tech scouting, equipment strategies and advanced hunting techniques. Again, the workshop is free. However, a 2014 park sticker is required to enter the park. Hope to see some of you there! Visit this link to register: http://www.register-ed.com/events/view/44053
As a reminder, 2014 spring turkey season dates are:
Youth Archery: March 25 – May 31
Archery – March 25 – May 31
Youth Shotgun: April 5 – May 31
Shotgun: April 12 – May 31
Another reminder, youth hunting turkey permits are only $5! It doesn’t get any better than that. Turkey hunting in Nebraska is a fun and low-cost way to introduce kids 15 years and younger to hunting. We’ve got lots of turkeys in Nebraska, so take advantage of it!
