Northwest District Birding Day Set for June 4

LINCOLN – The public is invited to join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for Northwest District Birding Day on June 4 at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area (SRA) in Cherry County.

Birders will depart from the Cedar Bay boat ramp on the southeast side of the reservoir at 7 and 8:30 a.m. Group birding will continue until 11 a.m., but individuals may extend their birding into the afternoon. Camping is available at the SRA.

Bring any gear necessary for a morning of birding, including binoculars, cameras, spotting scopes, field guides, drinking water, snacks, sunscreen, hats, bug spray, rain jackets, and appropriate footwear and clothing. Lunch will not be provided.
