Grand Re-opening of Victoria Springs Lake

LINCOLN – A grand re-opening of the lake at Victoria Springs State Recreation Area to celebrate the completion of an aquatic habitat project will be June 25 from 4-7 p.m. The public is welcome to take a tour of the lake and stay for hot dogs, beans, chips and soda.

The lake has undergone many improvements, including deepening, replacement of the outlet structure, bank stabilization, better shoreline angling access, a fishing pad, and the installation of underwater fish attractors.

The lake was stocked with 3-inch largemouth bass, 1-inch bluegill and 12-inch channel catfish last year and will continue to grow into a fishing destination for visitors.

Project funding was provided by the Aquatic Habitat Fund, which comes from Nebraska fishing license fees, Federal Aid for Sport Fish Restoration, which is supported by the excise tax on fishing tackle, and the Nebraska Environmental Trust.

Victoria Springs is located 6 miles east of Anselmo in Custer County.
