Pheasant Bonanza has a 20-station course offering a wide variety of clay targets, including bouncing rabbits, decoying ducks, and flushing quail coveys.

Join the National Wild Turkey Federation’s (NWTF) Missouri River Shootout on Sunday, July 27 at the Pheasant Bonanza Hunt Club and Kennel in Tekamah, Neb. The main sporting clay event is open to all ages and class of shooters and will benefit NWTF’s Wheelin’ Sportsmen Program, which provides opportunities for people with disabilities to enjoy the outdoors. The first 10 youth shooting teams to register will receive $5,000 towards a MidwayUSA Foundation Endowment.

The youth shooting team event will take place concurrently with the registered clay tournament at Pheasant Bonanza. Rhett Simmons, Director of Special Events at NWTF said, “The regular tournament shooters have been very patient and accommodating at locations where we have done this same thing over the past several months. They are some of the best people in world, many times offering to help coach and volunteer their time to help out the teams. It has been a win-win for everyone involved.”

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with European rotation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $95 registration fee ($50 for youth) includes 100 clay targets and lunch; day of event registration fee is $110 for adult shooters. Classes include Master, AA, A, B, C, D, E and Hunter for non-NSCA members. More than $5,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the top shooters.

Youth shooting teams (3 shooters) must be affiliated with a school or other youth shooting organization to qualify for endowment funds. Visit MidwayUSA Foundation online at www.midwayusafoundation.org for details on how to start an endowment account. On top of the initial endowment awarded to each youth shooting team, an additional $5,000, $3,500 and $2,500 will be awarded to first, second and third place teams, respectively. Youth shooters must be 17 and under (unless they turned 18 while participating in a youth shooting program in the last year).

The MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account Program was created by Larry and Brenda Potterfield to raise money for shooting teams of high schools, colleges and universities in the United States. Teams can raise money through events like NWTF’s and other donations, from which they can draw interest from their principle balance each year to pay for team expenses (excluding firearms), such as ammunition, travel, uniforms, range fees and more.

“It is a great way to provide perpetual funding to youth shooting,” said Simmons. “The Potterfields realized early on that if you give teams cash, they spend it and then come back with their hand out again next year. The endowment system helps them build for the future of shooting sports.”
