LINCOLN — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, in conjunction with Fulbright’s EcoLeadership Program, is pleased to announce two upcoming educator workshops focusing on bats.

The workshops, open to K-12 grade educators in Nebraska, will educate teachers about the natural history of bats, as well as their importance to the ecosystem and how to help in their conservation. Teachers can learn how to incorporate the study of bats into their science curriculum and will receive a variety of educational resources including the Discover Bats! Educator Guide, a bat identification book, a bat-related literature book and a bat house to facilitate in depth study of the bats of Nebraska.

Teachers are encouraged to attend one of two workshops: Friday, Aug. 1, from 3 p.m.-10 p.m. at Homestead National Monument in Beatrice; or Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at TaHaZouka Park in Norfolk.

Workshops are free, but pre-registration is required. To register, please send your name, school or organization, email and phone number to Lindsay Rogers, lindsay.rogers@nebraska.gov.
