Archery on Fire Events Dec. 6 in Lincoln, Platte River SP

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will host free family archery events Dec. 6 in Lincoln and at Platte River State Park.

These Archery on Fire events are designed to introduce a new outdoor skill to the beginner and to let more experienced archers sharpen their skills.

The Lincoln event will be held at the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center, 4703 N. 44th St. In addition to archery, this event will feature Tomahawk throwing, a Hunger Games costume contest, a drawing for a free family membership, and free refreshments while supplies last provided by Scheels.

The Platte River State Park event, which will take place at the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex, will include various types of archery, Tomahawk throwing, campground games and crafts. In addition, s’mores and chili will be available for purchase.

Equipment will be provided at both events, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Archery’s popularity in Nebraska is growing, especially among youth. More than 25,000 youth participate in an archery program that is offered in more than 200 Nebraska schools.
