Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend at Ponca State Park this Saturday, November 29. With Christmas just around the corner, warm up your cookie decorating skills and get a head start on holiday crafts such as homemade ornaments and greeting cards. The day will conclude with free family photos and lighted hayrack rides. All activities will meet at the Resource and Education Center. All ages welcome.
Start your Christmas Day countdown by making your own natural chalkboard at 9 a.m. Participants must preregister at the front desk for $3/craft; spaces are limited to 30 people.
Learn how to make snowflake pine cone ornaments at 10 a.m. Preregister at the front desk for $2/craft, limit 30 participants.
At 11 a.m., decorate two Christmas cards, one for yourself and another to send to local nursing homes, $2/person.
Cookie decorating will take place from 1 to 2 p.m., free.
Then bring the whole family to the center for Christmas family photos from 3 to 4 p.m. Photos are free and will be emailed to families.
At the end of the day, enjoy the frosty chill of a winter evening on lighted hayrack rides. Tours will be offered for free from 5 to 6 p.m.
