Memorable Snows

I know what you’re thinking. No, this is not going to be a blog about the memorable snow storms I’ve experienced growing up in the Cornhusker State. Nope. This is a going to be blog post about the memorable times I had last year hunting snow and Ross’s geese during Nebraska’s Light Conservation Order hunting period here in Nebraska. I can favorably recall each and every experience!

DECOYEDSNOWGEESE

I saw huge flocks of light geese.

I watched superb dog work.

I was fortunate to harvest some birds to help reduce over-abundant numbers of light geese which are continuing to cause damage to sensitive arctic breeding habitats.

I made some great, new friends in the waterfowl hunting world.

I experienced exquisitely beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

I was allowed me to have a front row seat witnessing the incredible spring migration of wild fowl in the nation’s central flyway.

Hunting snow (and Ross’s) geese during the spring migration is very memorable. I cannot recommend it enough! This hunt is ideal for those of us who enjoy the outdoor atmosphere, fun camaraderie, viewing wildlife and a true challenge! I can’t wait to spend time in the field hunting during the light goose conservation order this year! It begins tomorrow, Monday, February 9th.

Hundreds of decoys.

Now, if only I could keep from filling up my boots with water in those marshes and ponds we hunt, darn it!
