The End is Near

I have not recommended to anyone in the past several weeks that the ice is completely, entirely safe.  However, I am fully aware that there are folks still ice-fishing in Nebraska and I have been taking advantage of “late ice” myself as much as possible.  Even this late in the ice-fishing season you can be safe and the fishing can be terrific, but you better know what you are doing ( Safety First ).  I cannot talk to anyone on the phone or the ole inter-webby and tell them anything other than you have to make sure it is safe every time you walk onto the ice; the only person who can be responsible for that call is you.

It is very safe to say now after looking at the weather forecast for the next few days, that the end of our ice-fishing season is near, very near.  In fact, I am betting many of us will be fishing open water within a week.  I hate to see ice-season go, I would take it for 6 months if I could because it is simply some of the best fishing of the year.

But it looks like the sun is setting on our ice season.  Until next year. . . .
