Rimfire Sporter Rifle Clinic Scheduled at Platte River SP

LINCOLN – Learn all aspects of rimfire sporter rifle shooting at a clinic at Platte River State Park this summer.

Choose from clinics on June 8 and 10, July 13 and 15, and Aug. 10 and 12. They will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex.

Participants will learn safe rifle handling and range procedures, sight picture and alignment, competitive shooting rules, proper use of a sling, natural point of aim, and shooting from different positions. They also will shoot a rimfire sporter match.

Only rimfire rifles that shoot .22 LR ammunition are allowed, although any action is permitted. Participants must be at least 12 years of age. They are encouraged to bring their own rifle and ammunition. Loaner equipment and ammunition can be provided. The cost is $15 per class or $20 if loaner equipment is used. A park entry permit is required. Clinics are limited in size.
