State High School Fishing Tournaments Coming in July

LINCOLN – Two fishing tournaments are coming up in July for high school anglers – the Nebraska B.A.S.S. High School Team Championship on July 18 and the TBF-SAF Nebraska High School Fishing Tournament on July 25.

Participation is open to students who will be in grades 9-12 this fall and have a Nebraska fishing license. Each two-student team will supply its own adult coach/boat operator and boat.

Nebraska B.A.S.S. High School Team Championship – This tournament will be held July 18 at Leigh Lake at Maple Creek Recreation Area near Leigh in Platte and Colfax counties. Each member of a two-person team must be a Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) member. The entry fee of $25 per team is due by July 15. The tournament begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends with a weigh-in at 12:30 p.m. The catch limit is five bass per team. Contact Dave Greer for more information at 402-578-9516 or mstrbass@cox.net.

TBF-SAF Nebraska High School Fishing Tournament – This fifth annual event will be held July 25 at Lewis and Clark Lake near Crofton in Knox County. Anglers must be members of The Bass Federation-Student Angler Federation. The entry/membership fee is $25 per angler. Takeoff and weigh-in will take place at Weigand Marina. The event starts at 7 a.m. and ends with the weigh-in at 1 p.m. The catch limit is five bass per team with a minimum length of 12 inches.
