Johnson Lake Angler Access Project to be Dedicated
The public is invited to a dedication of a renovated ADA-accessible fishing area at Johnson Lake State Recreation Area on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. The area will be named for Myron Berggren and Oliver Berggren.
From Oct 2014 through May 2015, NGPC completed a $230,000 project to improve angler access at the inlet area of Johnson Lake. Improvements include two renovated ADA-accessible fishing piers, newly constructed concrete walkways for better angler access, and habitat improvements.
The ceremony will include a formal dedication and a free family fishing clinic. For more information, call the park at 308-785-2685.
The inlet at Johnson Lake (really it is a reservoir, but call it a “lake” if you wish) is a popular fishing spot. With the water coming into the reservoir, it attracts fish, and a person can almost always catch something there. The banks have always been steep and rocky, so the new angler access improvements will make it a lot easier for all anglers to fish that area.
As a matter of fact, the dedication may be coming up this Saturday, but folks are already using the access improvements!
