Bald eagles break nest record again in 2016

LINCOLN, Neb. – In 2016, a record 159 active bald eagle nests were documented in Nebraska by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and its partners. It was the third consecutive year the number of nests has broken the previous year’s record. Bald eagles were on federal and state endangered species lists as late as 2007 and 2008, respectively. Commission Seeks Information on Bald Eagle Found Shot

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking information related to the apparent shooting of a bald eagle in northeastern Nebraska. A citizen found the dead eagle on Jan. 17 in Cedar County, approximately 3 miles southeast of Yankton, S.D. The eagle appeared to have been shot on the day it was found. Game and Parks Seeks Information on Shot Bald Eagle

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking information on a bald eagle that was illegally shot recently near Verdigre in northeast Nebraska. The adult eagle was found dead approximately 1½ miles southwest of Verdigre. It was reported on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and on the following day it was confirmed to have been shot.
