LINCOLN, Neb. – The 2022 mountain lion hunting season in Nebraska’s Pine Ridge closed Jan. 6 when the harvest limit of four (three males and one female) was met. The season opened Jan. 2. Excellent snow tracking conditions likely helped hunters find success during the season. Game and Parks to Begin Collaring Mountain Lions

LINCOLN – Nebraska Game and Parks Commission field staff have begun efforts to capture and collar mountain lions. This effort is the beginning of a four-year research project. Game and Parks plans to place GPS tracking collars on seven to 15 mountain lions captured in the Pine Ridge, Wildcat Hills, Niobrara River Valley and elsewhere across the state. Pine Ridge Unit Season 2 Mountain Lion Season Closed — Update

LINCOLN – The Pine Ridge Unit Season 2 mountain lion season is closed following the harvest of a female mountain lion Feb. 26 in Sheridan County. The lion showed no signs of lactation or dependent young. The 102-pound lion was approximately 5½ years old and appeared to have been in good health. Two Mountain Lions Harvested in Pine Ridge

LINCOLN – Two mountain lions were harvested on Jan. 2 during Nebraska’s first regulated hunting season. Both hunters harvested male mountain lions. A male lion weighing 103 pounds was harvested in Sioux County and a male lion weighing 138 pounds was harvested in Dawes County. The hunt took place in the Pine Ridge Unit of northwest Nebraska.
